Recording rides

Record a ride

Track where you ride, then save it as a ride to keep or share.

Updated 18 October 2026

Recording keeps the exact roads you rode, even with the screen off.

Start recording

  1. Tap the red + and choose Record a ride.
  2. Tap Start recording. Byker asks to use your location if you haven't said yet.
  3. Put your phone away and ride.

The screen shows the distance, moving time and speed. Stops you Pause for aren't counted in the moving time.

Finish and save

  1. Tap Stop, then Finish.
  2. Name your ride, and add a description, photos and tags if you like.
  3. Tap Save.

Recorded rides hide their exact start and finish from other riders by default, as they often start and end at home. Change it in the save form if you like.

Never use the app while riding. Stop somewhere safe before you touch your phone.

While you record

If you leave the recording screen, tap + and Back to your recording to return to it.
