Speed cameras on the map
Fixed and average speed cameras, kept up to date by riders.
Updated 19 October 2026
In the Map tab, choose the Speed cameras view to see fixed and average speed cameras. Chips under the search box choose which kinds to show.
Where they come from
Byker's cameras come from OpenStreetMap, updated monthly, and from riders' reports. A camera a rider reports shows only to them until another rider confirms it, then to everyone.
Report a camera
- Stop somewhere safe.
- On the Map tab, with the Speed cameras view showing, tap + and Report a speed camera.
- Choose the kind, and whether it's where you are or at a Waypoint you place on the map. Add anything else you know, such as the direction.
- Tap Send report.
Cameras on your rides
A ride's page warns you about the speed cameras on its route, with each one's kind, limit and road, and shows them in Along the way where you pass them.
When you plan a ride, the planner shows the cameras on the route as you go and counts them under the distance. GPX exports include them as waypoints.
Keep them right
Tap a camera to see its details. If it's wrong, choose Report to moderators. Reporting a camera another rider has reported confirms it.
Byker shows speed cameras only, not red-light cameras.
