Take maps offline
Keep your part of the country on your phone for when the signal drops.
Updated 18 October 2026
The best roads tend to be where the phone signal isn't. With an offline map, every map in Byker keeps working, and loads faster too.
Download an area
- Open Profile → App Settings → Download maps.
- Choose Great Britain & Ireland, or a region: Midlands & East of England, Scotland, South East & London, North of England, Ireland, South West England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
- Byker says how much space it needs first. Wi-Fi is best for the bigger areas, and Byker needs to stay open until it finishes.
If the download stops, tap it to carry on where it left off.
Keep them up to date
Byker's maps are rebuilt every month. When a new one is ready, Byker sends a notification, and the area shows Update available. Update all updates every area at once.
What still needs signal
Planning a route, search and loading rides still need a connection. Recording doesn't.
Free riders keep one area on the phone, such as Wales or Scotland. With Byker Premium, keep as many as you like, including all of Great Britain & Ireland.
