Every great ride starts with someone saying "I know a road".

Byker is where those roads live. It's a home for motorcyclists to plan rides, record them, share the best ones and meet the riders who love them as much as you do. And from today, it's open.

Built by riders, for riders

We started with a simple frustration: the things riders need most were locked behind subscriptions, buried under adverts, or both. So we did it differently.

Everything a rider needs is free. Planning, saving, publishing and sharing rides. Recording. Events and group rides. Speed cameras and alerts. Sending a ride to Google Maps or your sat nav. All free, for every rider, with no adverts. Ever.

How? We run our own maps, our own route planner and our own place search on our own server, built from OpenStreetMap. Showing you a map costs us next to nothing, so it costs you nothing too.

What you can do today

Plan a ride. Drop points on the map and Byker follows the roads between them. Avoid motorways, mark your fuel and café stops, and see the distance, time and climb before you set off.

Record the ride. Found a great road by accident? Press record, put the phone away and ride. Byker keeps going with the screen off, and even without signal.

Ride it your way. Byker plans, your sat nav navigates. Open any ride in Google Maps, or export a GPX file for Garmin, TomTom and the rest.

Discover the good stuff. Browse rides published by riders near you and further afield, rate them, comment, and save the ones you want to ride next.

Know what's on the road. Speed cameras, camera vans, road closures and biker down alerts, kept honest by riders. Plus official roadworks across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, on the map and on your routes.

Take the map with you. Download your region and every map keeps working when the signal drops, which is usually where the best roads are.

Ride together. Find and organise meetups, group rides, charity runs, shows and track days. Add friends, join a club, and chat with the riders you ride with.

Look out for each other. With Stolen & Found, report a stolen bike and riders within 25 miles, your friends and your clubs are told straight away. Share its poster, get sightings sent privately to you, and check a registration before you buy.

Free to ride, Premium to go further

When you want more, Byker Premium raises the limits and adds extras: multi-day trips, bigger routes, every offline map, folders, your riding stats and a few looks of its own. It's £3.99 a month or £39.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial.

Premium never holds back safety, privacy or your own data. And every rider who chooses it pays for the server and new features, for everyone.

Byker isn't finished. It never will be, and that's the point.
