Dark mode, map colours and units
Make Byker look and measure the way you like.

Open Profile → App Settings. On the website, it's Profile → App settings.
Appearance
Choose Dark, Light or System (follows your phone).
Theme colour changes the colour of buttons, links and highlights. Byker red is for everyone; Blue, Racing green, Teal and Purple come with Byker Premium. Rides on the map stay red, so they always stand out.
Map styles
Light mode and dark mode each have their own map. Choose them under Light mode map and Dark mode map.
Light mode map
- Standard: gentle colour for water, woods and roads
- Greyscale: the classic grey map
- Road atlas (Premium): bolder colours, blue motorways, green primary routes and yellow A roads
- Vintage (Premium): ink on old paper
- Nordic (Premium): cool, pale blue-greys
Dark mode map
- Standard: dark, with a touch of colour
- Midnight (Premium): deep navy, easy on the eyes at night
- Graphite (Premium): plain charcoal greys
- Night atlas (Premium): Road atlas's colours, dimmed for the dark
If Premium ends, Byker goes back to Standard and Byker red, and remembers your choice for when you return.
Units
- Distance and speed: Miles · mph or Kilometres · km/h. Saved to your account, so it follows you to a new phone.
- Time: 24-hour (09:30) or 12-hour (9:30 am).
