Name, describe and tag your ride
Add the details that make a ride worth riding: a name, a description, photos and tags.
Updated 19 October 2026
When you save a ride, the save form asks for its details. You can change them later from the ride's page.
The details
- Name: something riders will recognise, such as "Snake Pass loop".
- Description: what makes it good. Cafés, views, things to watch for.
- Photos: from your camera or your photos. Up to 2, or 10 with Byker Premium.
- Tags: tap Byker's tags, such as Winding, Sweeping, Fast A-roads, Scenic, Coastal, Mountain pass or Café stop, or type your own in Add your own tag. Up to 10.
Who can see it
- Publish to Byker: other riders can find, rate and comment on it. Off, only you can see it.
- Show to my friends: not published, but your friends can see it.
- Hide exact start and finish: other riders see the route without its first and last 500 m.
Your own tags are suggested next time you type. Tags can use letters, numbers, spaces, &, ' and -.
Change them later
Open the ride, and tap the edit button or Edit details.
Change the route
Open your ride and tap Edit route, at the bottom of its page or in its menu. The planner opens with the ride's points: add, move, reorder or remove them, change what the route avoids, then tap Save route. Byker plans it again along the roads, and its distance and map update.
A recorded ride's route can be changed too, but saving replaces the track you recorded with a planned route. Byker asks first.
