Check the weather on your route
The forecast along a ride or an event's route, for when you'll get to each part, and a heads-up the evening before.
Updated 1 November 2026
Byker shows the forecast along your route for the day and time you ride it: rain, wind, temperature and daylight, where and when you'll meet them. It's free.
On a ride
Open the ride and tap When are you riding?. Pick the day and the time you'll set off. Byker works out when you'll reach each part of the route from the ride's riding time, and shows:
- a summary, like Dry all the way or Dry for 24 mi, then rain, with the temperatures and the strongest gusts
- warnings, with where each one starts: Heavy rain, Strong gusts, Crosswinds, Risk of ice, Fog, Snow, Thunderstorms and After sunset
- the start, a point every 10 miles, your stops and the finish, each with the time you'll be there
On the ride's map, the route turns blue where it's wet and amber where it's windy.
On a multi-day trip, each day starts again at the same time the morning after each overnight stop.
Byker remembers the day you picked for that ride. Tap Change to pick another, or Forget this day.
In the planner
Under the route's totals, tap Weather: when are you setting off? and pick a day and time. Tap the line again to see the whole forecast.
On an event
An event's page shows the forecast for its start time, along its route, or at the meeting point if it has no route.
How far ahead
Up to 15 days. Further ahead, Byker says when the forecast will be ready. The first two or three days come from the Met Office's detailed UK forecast, the rest from ECMWF, the European forecast.
The evening before
If you've picked tomorrow for a ride, or you're going to an event tomorrow, Byker tells you at about 6pm when heavy rain, strong winds, ice, fog, snow or thunderstorms are forecast on the route. Nothing comes when the forecast is fine. Switch it off with Weather in Profile → Settings → Account Settings → Notifications.
The forecast is fetched for the route, never for where you are. The day you pick for a ride is private to you.
